What is Pehchaan the Street School?

Pehchaan the Street School is a non-governmental organisation. For nine plus years the organization is working with group of volunteers to reach out to the children from underprivileged section of society and help make their “Pehchaan” – identity. Through providing the children elementary education and vocational skills training. Beyond educating the children their aim is to develop competent, self-sufficient and educated individuals in the future generation.

Along with children the mission of the organization is to support women who are from underprivileged section of society across India. Pehchaan the Street School runs vocational or skill enhancement courses for women, so that the women can become empowered enough to run their own small businesses and earn for their livelihood independently. This initiative will allow women to learn a new skill and in supporting their family financially, women will also be able to contribute to quality education of their children. The NGO provides many other services like free health check-ups, legal aid, hygiene camps and menstrual education.

Let us all together try to contribute to the noble cause of Pehchaan the Street School by offering help in whatever way we can. There are volunteering, interning opportunities offered by the organization, online and offline in various categories and roles or if you wish to contribute without sparing much of the time then making donations to the organization is also an option, one can make donations in various forms like, monetary, stationary items, edibles, etc. You can also contribute to the cause by spending your special days with the children at “Pehchaan” or by sponsoring a child.
