

It was made an NGO in 2018 and here is what Akash sir said about it, “Initially, we never believed in the idea of forming an NGO, and for 3 years were just an individual volunteer group, but because the number of students was increasing, convincing people to volunteer, encouraging students to join us and getting stationery for them became difficult. Hence, we got this organisation registered in 2018.
Fast forward to 2024, Pehchaan The Street School has celebrated its 9th anniversary! There are more than 1500 students enrolled and as many volunteers working across multiple media and fields. Now, there are 10 centres across the Delhi-NCR region and a vocational centre in Noida. And I am glad and proud to tell you that Pehchaan The Street School is getting more and more recognition day by day! We have about 40000+ followers on LinkedIn and about 33000+ followers on our Instagram page!
Pehchaan The Street School was featured in a national newspaper - The Hindu, in August 2023 and had a story dedicated to them. They also talked to one of the founding volunteers- Mr. Akash Tandon. The story was titled - “Delhi students teach and play ‘heroes’ to street children”
Recently, Pehchaan The Street School was also featured in a story on DD News - The national television news channel that is also the oldest news provider on Indian television. It was as a part of their “Good News- Jazba India Ka” program, which was hosted by the famous anchor, Ms. Shahla Nigar. Our team is very joyous at the three-minute story dedicated entirely to us. The program showcased one of our Community Education Centres in Delhi NCR.
