The Singham Again trailer has been released on You-Tube, which is directed by Rohit Shetty and I am going to discuss why its the worst trailer in the world.
A trailer does two things-entertain the audience and bring them to theatres to watch the whole thing. It keeps the plot of the film in secret. This is the sign of a perfect trailer. A great trailer creates enormous amount of puzzles among the audience, so that they can go to the theatres and decipher it themselves. This trailer on the other hand, breaks the formula in a bad way. Instead to increasing curiosity, it reveals the entire story, which a great trailer doesn't.
Main reason why this is the most faulty trailer in the world-
1. It reveals the entire story/plot.
2. It reveals the surprise cameos very early.
3. There are no best moments in the trailer.
4. The theme of the film is revealed in the trailer.
5. The action scenes look very fake.
6. Not a very scary antagonist.
7. No out of the box action.
8. It is a reboot and disrespects the marvel formula.
This film is more about stardom and stunt, rather than telling a good story. It is all meaningless. The cameos make no sense at all. In fact, this movie is a reference of circus cinema, where all the stars do stunts or show out their muscular postures without any reason. There is nothing nuanced in this film. In fact this is not a film at all, its just a money grabbing ATM machine. When it comes to artistic action, there are a few films that excel in it, such as- RRR, Salaar, Bahubali, Captain America The Winter Soldier and Casino Royale. Why they have artistic action because the action tells something about the character and turns the story forward. It also plays a major role in character growth. The action of this film is like a nonsense boring popcorn flick. Now the audiences have become matured enough to know what kind of cinema they want. This trailer reveals the entire story, so why go to theatres and watch it, when the trailer itself showed the whole film.
If you are a lover of cinema and visual storytelling, I recommend you don't go and watch this. I think more importance should given to those films that are narrative driven, rather than films that make money. But, sadly they are pushed to OTT, while theatres only give space to circus films.
