Solo, Duo, Or Crew: How Do You Travel Best?

Travel comes in many forms, and each has its own magic.

Having experienced all three styles—I can say it depends on where you are, who you’re with, and what you want from the journey.

Solo travel has always been my first love.  I remember my solo trip to Egypt, wandering through the ancient ruins. It felt like a private dialogue with history, uninterrupted by chatter. The best part? No compromises! But there were moments when I’d catch myself wishing for someone to laugh with over a funny marvel at a stunning view together.

Traveling with a partner, on the other hand, is a different kind of joy. It’s about sharing all the inside jokes that come from spending hours exploring together. Conversations flow naturally. However, traveling as a duo does require compromise, from agreeing on itineraries to balancing personal preferences.

And then there’s group travel—an entirely unique experience. Whether it’s a college road trip or a family vacation, there’s an infectious energy in traveling as a pack. Of course, managing everyone’s needs can get tricky, and group dynamics can sometimes test patience.

At this stage of life, I find myself choosing based on the destination and my mood. Solo for self-reflection, duo for bonding, and group for sheer fun.

So, whether you’re a lone wolf, a dynamic duo, or part of a lively crew, the magic of travel lies in the experiences and stories you create along the way.

What’s your travel style?
