It was disheartening to see the news and images of the Delhi Railway station Stampede yesterday. My thoughts immediately questioned our Human Rights: the basic rights inherent to us on essence of being humans:  Our fundamental rights

Right to Life is a fundamental right under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution that places on the state the  responsibility to preserve your life. But the question is, Is the Right to Life selective?. How come 18 people just get crushed over and die brutally, because of a havoc caused by inefficient systems in place. Why is the government not even mentioning it? is the silence an admission that these lives didn’t matter enough!!

The answer unfortunately is yes, Right to Life has become a privilege, reserved for those in power, for wealthy, and those who are apple to the eyes of the government. It is a shame though, where a system cannot even safeguard the lives of its people.
